They are all based around the original Radiomir, the Omega De Ville Co Axial Chronometer one provided to them by Rolex in the 1940s for use by the Italian Navy.In the early 1990s though, right when the Panerai brand was resucing after decades of dormancy, they released two models, the Luminor which we all know has become the cornerstone of the brand, and another watch that looks nothing like the Panerais we know and love (or hate?) of today.It was called the Mare Nostrum, and it was a tribute to an officer's deck watch made by Panerai that never actually made it to production.It was produced only from 1993 to 1997, at which point Panerai was purchased by the Vendome group (which was already partly owned by and eventually fully acquired by Richemont) and the rest is investment banker history.
